Guided by a series of social dilemmas, I interviewed Canadian award-winning film director Tarique Qayumi, who mentored me during my time at Emily Carr University. In our conversation, he reflected on the term BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour), an identity he embraces. In Canada, this notion is a central topic in public conversations, academic spaces, and community dialogues.
